Credit Documentary Officer

For one of our clients, a Geneva based Private Bank, we are looking for a Credit Documentary Officer.

Responsibilities:

  • The Credits Documentary Officer is accountable for managing and processing a broad range of trade finance instruments and documentary transactions, including Import and Export Letters of Credit, Inward and Outward Documentary Collections, Bank Guarantees, and related products, for a designated client portfolio.
  • Run and execute clients’ and correspondent banks’ instructions accurately, efficiently, and within agreed timelines across all documentary credit products and trade finance operations, including transactions involving non-client business, seeking guidance from colleagues or supervisors when required.
  • Provide expert technical guidance and operational support to clients, Relationship Managers, and colleagues within the Financial Institutions team regarding documentary credit instruments and related trade finance matters.
  • Maintain professional relationships with clients in close collaboration with Relationship Managers, ensuring a high standard of service and responsiveness.
  • Ensure clear, proactive, and timely communication with internal stakeholders, particularly by keeping Relationship Managers informed of any developments or changes affecting their clients’ positions arising from documentary trade transactions.

Profile:

  • Commercial apprenticeship, banking qualification (CFC), Maturity diploma, or equivalent educational background.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ hands-on experience in documentary credits within a banking institution, preferably with a strong Commodity Trade Finance focus.
  • Strong understanding of the applicable international rules, regulations, and market practices governing documentary trade operations.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage priorities effectively and work autonomously with limited supervision.
  • Collaborative team player with a positive and service-oriented mindset.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with full professional proficiency in both French and English, written and spoken.
