General Accountant – Trade Finance

For one of our clients, a leading player in the trade finance and commodity trading sector, we are seeking a highly skilled Accountant with strong SAP knowledge to join our Finance team. The role requires a detail‑oriented professional capable of managing accounting operations in a fast‑paced, international environment while ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely financial reporting.

You will work closely with Trade Finance, Operations, Treasury, and Risk teams to ensure proper accounting treatment of transactions and support the company’s financial integrity.

General Accountant (standard, polyvalent)

Responsibilities:

• Detail-oriented General Accountant with strong experience in end-to-end accounting processes, including general ledger management, reconciliations, and financial control.
• Proven ability to handle complex intercompany transactions, perform in-depth transaction investigations, and ensure accuracy across multi-entity environments.
  Core competencies include accounts receivable and accounts payable reconciliations (AR/AP), foreign exchange (forex) reconciliation, and bank reconciliation.
• Experienced in monitoring and maintaining documentary flows to ensure compliance and audit readiness.
  Hands-on expertise in SAP for bookkeeping and financial data management, with solid knowledge of VAT regulations and invoice classification processes.
• Demonstrates strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to identify discrepancies and resolve accounting issues efficiently.

Profile:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or equivalent.
• 3–5+ years of accounting experience, ideally in trade finance, commodity trading, or banking.
• Good working knowledge of SAP
• Experience with Swiss GAAP FER or IFRS is a strong asset.
• Preferably good understanding of trade finance instruments
• Strong Excel skills; familiarity with data tools is a plus.
• Knowledge of Swiss tax and regulatory environment is an advantage.
• Detail‑oriented, analytical, and highly organized.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross‑functional teams.
• Proactive, solution‑oriented mindset with a high level of integrity.
