Senior Accountant – Trade Finance

For one of our clients, a leading player in the trade finance and commodity trading sector, we are seeking a highly skilled Accountant with strong SAP knowledge to join our Finance team. The role requires a detail‑oriented professional capable of managing accounting operations in a fast‑paced, international environment while ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities :

• Experienced Trading Accountant with strong expertise in daily P&L reporting and analysis within trading environments. Proven ability to analyse trading movements, explain P&L drivers, and account for both physical results and mark-to-market (MTM) valuations on open contracts. 
• Skilled in booking and reconciling broker statements, managing foreign exchange (FX) impacts, and resolving discrepancies across trading activities. Solid experience in handling complex transactions related to physical trading, derivatives, and intercompany structures. 
• Responsible for balance sheet reconciliations, intercompany balance analysis, and preparation of consolidation-ready financial data. Capable of identifying and resolving participation-related issues and ensuring accurate financial positioning. 
• Hands-on experience with manual closing entries, month-end and year-end close processes, and preparation of annual financial statements. Strong analytical mindset with attention to detail in high-volume, fast-paced trading environments.

 Profile:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or equivalent.
• 5+ years of accounting experience, ideally in trade finance, commodity trading, or banking.
• Strong working knowledge of SAP FI/CO.
• Experience with Swiss GAAP FER or IFRS is a strong asset.
• Preferably good understanding of trade finance instruments
• Strong Excel skills; familiarity with data tools is a plus.
• Knowledge of Swiss tax and regulatory environment is an advantage.
• Detail‑oriented, analytical, and highly organized.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross‑functional teams.
• Proactive, solution‑oriented mindset with a high level of integrity.
