Trade Finance Specialist – Metal

For one of our clients, a Geneva based Commodity Trade Finance Company, we are looking for a Trade Finance Specialist – Metal.

Position Overview

The Trade Finance Specialist– Metals will be responsible for supporting and advising the company’s trading and finance teams in structuring, executing, and monitoring trade finance transactions related to the metals industry. This role requires strong expertise in commodity trade finance, risk management, and cross-border operations, with a focus on ensuring smooth execution of financing solutions for import/export activities and client transactions.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary advisor for trade finance activities related to metals trading.

  • Structure and negotiate trade finance instruments (letters of credit, guarantees, standby facilities, forfaiting, etc.) with banks and financial institutions.

  • Support front-office trading teams with financing solutions tailored to metals transactions.

  • Monitor and manage collateral requirements, margin calls, and credit exposures.

  • Ensure timely settlement of trade finance deals and compliance with internal policies and external regulations.

  • Liaise with counterparties, clearing brokers, and custodians to ensure smooth execution of financing and settlement flows.

  • Produce regular reports on trade finance activities, exposures, and performance metrics for management.

  • Participate in the implementation of new financing processes, digital tools, and risk controls.

  • Provide market insights on metals financing trends, regulatory developments, and banking practices.

Profile

  • Education: University degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or related field.

  • Experience: Minimum 7–10 years in trade finance, preferably within commodities/metals trading or banking.

  • Technical Knowledge:

    • Strong understanding of metals trading and supply chain finance.

    • Expertise in trade finance instruments and documentation (LCs, guarantees, collateral management).

    • Familiarity with regulatory frameworks (Basel III/IV, AML/KYC, sanctions compliance).

  • Skills:

    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.

    • Strong negotiation and communication skills with banks and counterparties.

    • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

    • High attention to detail, organizational rigor, and risk awareness.

  • Languages: Fluent in French and English

  • Residency: Swiss or EU work permit holder.
